We set sail late morning under a brilliant blue sky as we made our way into the heart of San Diego Bay. A gentle breeze off the Pacific filled our sails and carried us eastward through the harbor as we enjoyed the iconic San Diego skyline off our bow. With its towering downtown buildings, serving as a picturesque backdrop, we made or way towards the Coronado Bridge. The Captain and Crew seamlessly navigated through the bay waters, gliding smoothly past the historic USS Midway Museum, which stands as a testament to the rich maritime history of this vibrant city.
Today’s sail was particularly memorable as we caught sight of a playful pod of dolphins frolicking near our vessel, a delightful reminder of the bay’s thriving marine life. With the sun rising higher and higher in the sky, the wind too rose from a gentle and wispy morning breeze to a perfect steady northwest wind, allowing us to put RTW through its paces. From deep in the bay we set the sails for a speedy tach towards the Point Loma bait barge where a variety of Sea Lions and waterfowl call home. As we quietly sailed past, only a few of the slumbering giants took notice our passing by. Making the turn for home, we were treated to a stunning display of orange and purple hued clouds reflecting on the water. San Diego Bay, with its blend of natural beauty and bustling maritime activity, continues to be an enchanting locale that never fails to rejuvenate the spirit and inspire those who take the time to enjoy its wonders
